Starting a business can be hard...
Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt like going back to your day job.
Oh Yeah, I’ve had those days too and I certainly don’t try to hide the fact that things can get TOUGH, but here’s what I do when it ALL gets too much.
1. Remember WHY I started in the first place
2. Look back at everything I have achieved
3. Go running, dancing or do something creative to take my mind and body back to its “happy place”.
You’ve heard it before.
If it were easy, everybody would be doing it. So when you’re feeling like life is dealing you some shitty cards, remember why you started playing the game in the first place.
How to build resilience
Unfortunately, there is no way around it. To get better, stronger and more resilient in business, you must experience it. ALl of it. The good, the frustrating, the challenging and all the little in betweens because when getting into business, there a plenty of things we don’t know…
But you don’t know what you don’t know right?…
So, in order to deal with a situation try to understand every aspect of it.
What are you experiencing?
Why are you experiencing it and what can be done?
When you think you have answers to the above questions, ask yourself the above questions again because sometimes, to protect ourselves, we settle with answers that may may be comforting, or easy, or in our “wiring”.
So, how do you ask yourself the hard questions and get some answers that will help you move forward?
Be willing to be honest with yourself.
What are the truths?
Try not to project your feelings or thoughts on the situation.
What. Is. Factually. True?
Why is it true?
What is in your control? and What can be done?
Sometimes it’s easy to get overwhelmed and consumed by our emotions and the tears (figurative or not), can make things a little blurry.
When this happens, deal with the facts and make a plan of attack from there.
Positivity in business and beyond.
I’ve always prided myself on my positivity. I don’t believe there is any other way to be. What is the point? I have the power to be as great as I wish to be. I get to choose my own destiny and work my ass off for it. It will come with challenges. There will no doubt be tears, and a lot of fear, but when it comes down to it, I will choose the fear in fighting for my goals than the fear of it being too hard.
Have a plan.
When it gets tough, set that plan in motion because you will need it. Let it give you strength and recharge you.
It doesn’t have to be the almighty answer.
Just a reset. Just like my 3 actions above.
You're doing amazing, keep going!
Please know that you are not the only one in the game who is dealing with it tough.
